Orientale Concentus VIII International Choral Festival

The Orientale Concentus (VIII) International Choral Festival has been held since 2008 to promote choral music development and cultural exchange in Asia. It is one of the few festivals that rewards highly performed choirs with cash prizes in the region. World renowned choral music experts are invited to adjudicate the competition and conduct personalised master classes to maximize the learning experience of each participant. Last year's event attracted over 1600 participants, and it is anticipated that this year there will be close to 2,000 participants from 40 to 50 choirs around Asia. The event is held from July 23–25, 2015 at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Esplanade Concert Hall, Singapore.

In addition to the choral competition and master classes, the festival programme will incorporate community programmes aimed at raising social awareness, developing character and civic mindedness in the youth participants. These community programmes comprise of educational workshops that inculcate empathy, team work, confidence and self-awareness for our participants. Following the successful run of our unique concert series “Concert in the Dark” in 2014 aimed at raising awareness of the visually impaired, OCVIII will continue to push boundaries with the “Sign of Music” in 2015. The objective of this concert is to provide an authentic music experience that translates music into a series of tactile sensations, making music accessible to the hearing impaired. Through this concert we hope to provide the hearing impaired a platform for their voice to be heard, raising awareness as well as be part of our performances and believe that nothing is impossible.
