Treble Chorus of New England has two open positions

1. The Treble Chorus of New England is seeking a conductor for their Training Choir. Choristers in this ensemble are 7 to 10 years old and are new to singing. Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Conductor will audition and train choristers and assist in planning programs and performances. Administrative duties include attending staff meetings, meeting with parents about students’ progress, and submitting a monthly report to the Artistic Director. The Conductor should be prepared to substitute for other artistic staff in the event of emergency. Rehearsals are on Mondays from September to June. There is a required summer workshop week in August.

Successful candidates will have 3 to 5 experience in both choral conducting and working with children. Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s preferred. Piano skills sufficient to support rehearsals are required.


2. The Treble Chorus of New England is seeking a Director for their Hands on Opera! program. This program is designed to show students that involvement in opera is attainable and enjoyable. The program strives to enrich the community while exposing students to opera. Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Opera Director will plan all production aspects of the Hands on Opera! program, including auditions and casting, choosing an opera and developing the abridged score and libretto for performance, overseeing all technical aspects of production, developing an opera education packet for educational purposes, and developing budget and staffing needs.

The Opera Director will have a thorough understanding of, and passion for, opera. S/he will be passionate about working with children and committed to both artistic excellence and excellence in music education. The successful candidate will have:

  • 5 years experience in directing children of varied ages and experience levels.
  • Opera experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of opera, directing, and performing
  • Piano skills sufficient to support rehearsals
