Erotic love–often unfulfilled–by Renaissance madrigals by Cipriano de Rore, Vittoria Aleotti, and Claudio Monteverdi. The sensual and sacred nature of love is explored in neoclassical madrigals by Ildebrando Pizzetti. The love for a child is expressed in two madrigals using the Biblical text When David Heard by Thomas Tomkins and Norman Dinerstein.
